Progress update and next steps from the HATPro working group

HATPro Progress Update – February 2026

February 12 & 26, March 26 virtual sessions

The Decentralized Identity Foundation’s Hospitality & Travel Special Interest Group resumes its biweekly Thursday meetings (10am ET) on 12 February 2026. All are welcome.

The next three sessions (Feb 12, Feb 26, March 26) will spotlight progress on HATPro (Hospitality and Travel Profile) — an open standard now being published in stages to our public GitHub.

HATPro already defines 1,000+ structured data points that travellers can share selectively and with permission. The goal: enable suppliers and intermediaries to deliver far deeper personalisation — now amplified by AI — without forcing consumers to maintain fragmented profiles across multiple platforms.

These sessions will:

  • Outline how HATPro differs from legacy loyalty profiles and prior open standards
  • Address privacy, consent, and security design
  • Share practical implementation examples
  • Invite contribution — from suggesting a missing data point to helping shape full subschemas (e.g., scuba diving, food tours, activity restrictions and preferences)

HATPro is a living standard, but it is already robust enough for developers to review, pilot, critique, and extend. Feedback from these sessions will shape near-term priorities.
